Precious Moments

Nick and I just got word that one of his uncles has suffered a stroke in Guam. He went ahead early to get everything ready for his wife to join him so he was staying in a hotel. When she hadn't heard from him for a day she knew something was wrong. She was able to get ahold of an LDS church and they went to check on him. There was no answer at his room so the hotel finally broke in. Uncle Dave was on the floor. They rushed him to immidiately to the hospital. He suffered a stroke and was probably laying there in the hotel alone for 2 days. He still can't talk and partially paralyzed, but he is alive, which is a miracle.

Since you probably don't know Uncle Dave I will discribe him to you. Amazing. Seriously. He has an amazing testimony and will make you feel like a million bucks just by talking to him. He has so many things to teach and whenever he talks we LISTEN. His wife is the sweetest thing ever. His girls are absolutely beautiful. I'm rambling, just get the idea that they are wonderful people.

The Pruett Family

This whole thing has made me think alot the past couple days. It's made me think about how blessed I am to be healthy. I am blessed that my husband and family is healthy. I am blessed to be ALIVE. I am so greateful for the knowledge that I have that families are eternal and that Heavenly Father really does hear and answer our prayers. I am so loved, and I am so grateful for all the precious moments I don't appreciate enough sometimes.

Brad Paisley Concert

Okay so the story of how I came to get these tickets needs to come first. So ... on Monday I had a long day of work and school I was a tiny bit stressed out. My parents invited us to go get some ice cream with them for family night so after school I hurried home to grab Nick. I called him when I was close to tell him to just run out but he refused. I couldn't understand why but I finally caved and told him I'd run in real quick. Leaving the car running I came bursting through the door, power walked through the kitchen and was just about in the tv room when something caught my eye. I stopped and put my legs in reverse. There was something next to the banana bread I'd wrapped and set on the counter. There was two of them. Movie tickets? So I picked them up and read Brad Paisley with Darius Rucker. Ummmm .... WHAT!? I ran to Nick and gave him a huge-mongus hug and told him thank you thank you thank you as fast as I could. I had been talking about how much fun it would be to go but I didn't know he was actually scheming up a plan to take me. What a babe right?

We went to Kohls in preparation to get us some country shirt shwag so we could fit right in. (pictures in a paragraph or two) Friday seriously couldn't come soon enough. This was my first real country concert and I was stoked, obvi. Eventually Friday did come. I went to work, took my TEAS and got an 81%, came home, and we headed up to USANA. Nick and I drove up early to save seats since we were on the lawn. It was fun to hang out with each other and talk for a few hours before the friends got there. Let me just tell you ... Brad Paisley is uh-ma-zing! Seriously, just like he was on the radio but better. I was so impressed and sang and danced my heart out with Nick and our friends all night. Here are a few pictures and a little video from the concert.

Is it lame? ...

... that I totally get excited while using these things?

... and that I am stoked about purchasing both of these?

... and that I love when I get to use these?

... and have an addiction to all of the following?

Probably lame, but I don't care! :)

We Dyed

Last night was so fun, and I didn't even bust out my camera. FAIL. But, I am at least going to write about it!

*Sidenote* Great news! A few weeks ago my parents gave us their old washing machine because they were getting a new one. I was so excited for it but that meant we were on the hunt for a dryer. As luck would have it, one of Nick's mission buddies was getting rid of his down in Cedar City. Well ... yesterday my dad had to make a trip down there and he was able to pick it up. I am SO grateful! We now are owners of (completely free) washer and dryer. I don't have to bring my laundry to work anymore or sit in a dumb laundromat!

Anyways, my dad was planning on dropping the dryer off later that night so I called him and told him to bring little sissy along with him. While the boys were doing the manly stuff I colored Savannah's hair. That little miss is seriously turning into a mini-me and I absolutely love it! After daddio left, the hubs went to a friends for a Halo game night (it's a guy thing), and Savannah and I played with hair and painted nails all while watching ace of Cakes. It was seriously so fun to have her there and to act like girls again. I don't have many "girlfriends" I get to spend alot of time with so it was a fun little break for me.

I love little sissy to pieces. She brings such a sweet spirit whenever she is around and is always so happy. I love that she's my little buddy and still thinks I'm "cool". We'll see how long that lasts! :P She's sure growing up though and I'm proud of who she's becoming. Love you little miss!

Minute to Win It

Ever watched this tv game show? It is hilarious! The players have 60 seconds to complete a random challenge. The best part about this show is that they only use things you can find around the house! Such good ideas for people (like us newlyweds) who don't have much money but still like to do new things with friends. We decided to get together wirh friends over at Scott and Sarah's and try our hand at a few of them.

Here are the ones that we tried, you should too! :)

Toilet Paper Mummy Wrap: Okay, so with this each couple gets a roll of toilet paper. You put a pencil through the middle and have one of the partners hold both sides. The pertner getting wrapped holds the end in their hand and on the count of 3 you all start spinning. The first person to finish the roll of toilet paper wins!

Tissue Paper Pull: The boys did this one and it is pretty plain and simple. Pull out one tissue at a time. The first one to empty the box wins. It might sound easy, but those boys arms were sure cramping up!

Sticky Cotton Ball Dash: For this one you start with one side of the room with a cup of vaseline and a bowl full of cotton balls. On the other side of the room you have a bucket for each player. Start on the bucket side and on the count of 3 you run to the other sice, dip your nose in vaseline and pick up a cotton ball with it. You have to run the cotton ball attached to your nose back to the bucket and shake your head till the cotton ball in. The first person to get 7 wins (we did 5 and it was too fast). Remember, No hands!

Oreo Slide: You start with an oreo on your forehead and use your face muscles and gravity to get the oreo in your mouth. This one was HILARIOUS to watch!

Can Tip: With this you make 2 pyramids of 9 empty soda cans. You sit across the room and shoot at them with rubber bands. The first person to knock all of them down wins!

The last game we played was M&M Sort: Put 5 M&M's of every color into one cup and label empty cups by color. Turn the cup with M&M's in it upside down on the table. On the count of 3 pick up the cup and let the M&M's fall out. You have to sort the M&M's one at a time and sort them by color into the right cups. Easy enough right? You can only use ONE hand and you have to sort them in the order that the cups are in on the table. This one was so frustrating because it seemed so simple but under pressure was harder than you'd think! (We didn't get any pictures of this one because it wasn't very action oriented, but it sure was fun!)

Wanna know what I'm doing right now? Watching Minute to Win It with Nick getting some ideas for the next game night :)

Lazy Sunday

Sunday was a great day. It was our One Monthaversarry. We accidentally decided we would sleep in. We had church at 9 that morning but we slept through the alarm and woke up at 9:20. Oops. So I just closed my eyes again for a little while. Finally we woke up and rolled out of bed. What time was it you ask? 12:30! Apparently we were tired! We fixed up some breakfast and watched the Eagle's game. The Eagle's are "Nick's Team". Don't believe me? Look at this picture from yesterday:
This is the Eagles poncho that was purchased by Nick on one of his adventures to Mexico. He wears it every Eagles game he watches. Too bad we had to watch the Eagles not play very aweseome this game.

After a little more lounging around I decided it was time for me to get some more painting done. One of the projects I'm working on for out apartment is a picture frame collage running down our hallway. It'll kinda look like this:
or kinda like this:

I've edited a bunch of kandid pictures in black and white vintage and I'm still gathering my collection of different sized square/rectangular picture frames. I'm super excited to see how it turns out. Anyways, back on subject. I finished up painting the new frames that I found and it was time for dinner.

Jealous? I would be. This picture does not do the steaks justice. They were ginormus! And so delish. Nick is an aweseome bbq-er. I made jello salad which (of course) Nicky Wayne is not a fan of, so it's not pictured here but ooh it was good too.

After dinner it was of to Mom and Dad's house for some crepes. A neighbors car had broken down so dad was out helping them but it was fun to have everyone else there and enjoy the company.

Savannah and I went downstairs to check on the boys because they had gotten pretty quiet. This is what we found:

No wonder they'd gotten quiet! We watched them play a few more rounds of Halo and it was time for us to go.

I loved our fun and extremely relaxing first month anniversary together. We'll have to do something productive for month #2 :)

Let It Be

Nick and I have a few "theme songs". You know, the one that the lyrics had to have been written modeling your life because there is no other way someone could have gotten things that dead on? Or maybe it's just a song that makes you happy? Or reminds you of a certain place and time? So what if I have songs that cover all three and some that have categories of their own? Anyways, this song is one that I've decided would be a good one for me to live by.

A little prologue as to why this song rocks my world:
As many of you may or may not know, I find so much joy in taking care of other people. Most importantly, my friends and family. I am a perfectionist in my school work. I try to be the best I can be all of the time which I don't think in an of itself is a problem, but sometimes it grows to be one.
I have always had a hard time with trying my absolute hardest and it still not being enough. We've all been there and had that feeling of being incompetent. Never a fun thing but there is something I've realized largly to Nick's cretit.
Sometimes you need to just let it be. Sometimes there are things you can't control. Sometimes there are things you can't do. Sometimes people might not like you. Sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day. Sometimes somebody might be better than you. I'm learning that I need to forget about those things that I can't control and just let it be.

When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom. Let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me.
Speaking words of wisdom. Let it be.

And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree
There will be an answer. Let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer. Let it be.
And when the night is cloudy there is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow. Let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music. Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom. Let it be.

Let it be. Let it be. Let it be. Let it be.
There will be an answer. Let it be.
Let it be. Let it be. Let it be. Let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom. Let it be

Time Flies When You're Havin Fun!

Gosh! Has it really been a month already? I guess time really does fly by when you're having fun!

This is Nick and I hanging out a few days after our first date and the second one ... Well, you know what that is.

Here are some highlights and things I've noticed in the past month.
  1. The goodbye kisses are now goonight kisses.
  2. We laugh and talk just as much as when we were dating. I love the friendship we have.
  3. I've loved realizing how in sync Nick and I are. For example: We've got a pretty small bathroom with an even smaller mirror and sink. We know exactly what eachother's nightly rituals are and it's pretty much coreographed. I grab the water. Nick's got the toothbrushes. I start first, he's second. I'm done a grab the medicines. Hand him his. I drink. He drinks. I wash my face. He's putting stuff on his. We both need the miror so I use the bottom right. He uses the top left.It kinda makes me laugh sometimes.
  4. It is SO much easier to balance work, school and a marriage rather than work, school, and a boyfriend or fiance.
  5. It's so nice to have shelves for my food! No more sharing space with roommates or waiting for your turn in the kitchen!
  6. I feel the need to be so domestic! Cooking banana bread or snickerdoodles, cleaning the house, vaccuming the floors, organizing the pantry ... you get the idea. I love it!
  7. I am now on a kick of decorating the apartment and it is so much fun for me! I can't wait until I feel like our apartment is "complete" and we can officially call it "home",
  8. The relationship change with our families has been really neat. Our parents are still our parents, but they are now good friends. It's been so fun to invite them over, cook for them, and to look forward to visits. It's brought me closer to my siblings as well. Don't know why, but it has. And it's aweseome.
  9. Our new family ward's average age has got to be like 87 years old. It's been interesting to switch from a single adult ward to a family ward but I think that we can learn alot from them. They are all so friendly!
  10. My love for Nick grows every day. There are moments when I think my heart is just going to explode if I look at him for one more second! He makes me so happy and works so hard for us.
  11. Apparently when you get married, you are suddenly deemed "uncool" by your single friends. Laaame! It's been really fun to hang out with our married friends though. Love the frozen yogurt dates.
  12. It's easy to not eat healthy. Well, we don't eat terrible, but I feel like I eat lots. Yeah yeah ... I'm working on it!
  13. Why is it that when two bank accounts join all the funds seem to be depleted?
All the joking aside, I really have never had a happier month in my life. Thanks Nick, for just being you!

Wedding Pictures Are Here!

I got the pictures from the wedding and reception yesterday! I posted a few of my favorites HERE. Go look! :)
