Happy Fathers Day!

Since Nick is gone for his first Father's Day and we can't even call him, I thought I'd have Hudson send him a letter :) Here's what we came up with!

Hey Dad!

Happy Fathers Day! Since I can’t send you your present I thought I would write you a letter about how I am doing!

I’ve tried to be so good for Mom while you’ve been gone since I am the man of the house and all … Although I do have my cranky moments but hey, so does she! (Don’t tell her I said that!)
I like to eat every 3 hours during the day but I go longer between eating at night because I love my sleep. Sometimes I snort before I eat and it makes Mom laugh. She said it would make you laugh too! I just can’t help it! My nose is just small I guess!

Lately I want mom to hold me lots more. I yell and scream to remind her when she forgets and tries to put me down. Sometimes she has stuff she needs to get done so she puts me in the Moby wrap and I put my head against her chest. I fall right to sleep when she starts to hum or sing. I think it’s because I used to hear that when I was in her tummy.

Wanna know what else helps me fall asleep? White noise. No matter where I’m at, if it is nap time it puts me right to sleep! Mom is especially grateful for it when we are running errands and I start to get grumpy. She pops in my binky, turns on the white noise and covers me with the carseat cover and I am a gonner!

Remember in the hospital when I used to make all those noises when I slept? Well, I still do. Mom is getting better at being able to tell which noises are scary and which ones are just me talking in my sleep. I just have good dreams! A lot of the time they even make me laugh!

Let’s see … what else? Mom still swaddles me up real tight when I sleep. I love to sleep with one arm by my side and the other one by my face. It is so comfy! I hate when my legs are wrapped up too tight though. I like to stretch them out a lot.

Everyone says I look just like my Dad and I have to agree from all the pictures Mom shows me. I really love the one that sits on our side of the bed (since I am borrowing your side of the bed while you’re gone). It’s the one of us cuddling at the hospital when we were sleeping. I am excited for you to come back so we can do that again. I’m told I have your big blue eyes, your big head, and my body is long and skinny. My forehead even wrinkles when I raise my eyebrows just like you! (That is one of Mom’s favorites)

You know what else is Mom’s favorite? Whenever I sneeze I let out a huuuge high pitched sigh after. She laughs every single time! I don’t know why, sneezing is hard work! She’s tried to get it on video a couple times but you can’t fake those sneeze things. They just come and go whenever they please!

I’m sure a gassy little dude by the way, fair warning! Mom thinking it’s cause I try to eat too fast and I swallow lots of air which hurts my tummy. She’s trying to help me get better at that. At least it’s just noisy and not stinky!

Speaking of tummies, I love tummy time! Mom lays me on my tummy to help make me use my neck muscles and get them stronger. I’m getting really good at it and lying like that seems to help my gas go away too!

Well, I’d better get going, I’m starting to get hungry again. Gotta keep eating so I can keep growing big and strong! Mom weighed me today and I’m 9 pounds 9 ounces! Can you believe it? I’m going to catch up with you in no time! I’m even out of newborn diapers and into size one!

I love you so much Dad! I’m sad you are gone for your first Fathers Day. We have lots of playing and snuggling to catch up on when you get home! Mom is fun and all but she’s nothing like you! Only 24 days left till we get to fly to come see you! I am lucky to have you to look up to Dad and I’m so proud to see you graduate as an airman soon!

Love,
Your Son

Hudson's BIRTHday

I can't even describe how grateful I am to have these pictures. May 6th was such an incredible, hard, emotional, long, and perfect day all rolled into one. Thanks Beth for helping us pause this moment in time for my little family so we will always remember how incredible we felt when our little Hudson arrived in our arms. (P.S. I LOVE the pics in black and white more than the color so I'm uploading them all in B&W) (P.P.S. Please don't mind my double chin in 99.9% of these pics. I just had a baby!)
