Cowboy and Cowgirl

Wanna know how I spent my Halloween?

With the cutest cowboy and cowgirl in town! I took them trick-or-treating with Bethie and boy was it an adventure! Pouring rain with a little girl in my arms for an hour. Needless to say, my arms feel like I was at the gym working out yesterda, but so worth those smiles.

She sure loves that puppy!
I am so so grateful for this little miss and the smiles that she brings to my life.

She Ran

Last night was a good night. With Nick and Scott in St. George umpiring Sarah and I decided to make it a little girls night out. We went to the Provo temple which was such a neat experience to do. I sometimes forget how much hearing the words and lessons can make a difference. So awesome. After that we decided to go to grab some food. We chose Red Lobster because our husbands don't like seafood. We jumped at the chance to eat it :) All you can eat seafood baby!

After that little sissy came over to our apartment and slept over. It was so fun to girl talk and spend some time together. This morning we woke up and went to cheer my mom at for the Halloween Half Marathon. Here are a few pictures.

I'm excited for tonight to spend some time with friends and family. Should be a good time! :) Pictures to come soon!

Sorry this post is written a little lame and a little short. i'm half typing this and I'm half watching a movie. Hope you all have a awesome Halloween!

My New Project

I want to walk into our apartment and feel like I'm actually home, so I have picked up on my home decorating and started my projects. Here is my work in progress right now in the front room when you first walk in the door:
I've got to paint the last few frames that aren't painted black yet and then I'm going to edit pictures of Nick and I and our families and put them in the frames. It's a work in progress but I think it's going to turn out pretty stinkin cute :)

When I Grow Up

So ever since I was little I have wanted to be a nurse. Seriously. Don't believe me? I have drawings from when I was in first grade of nurses and doctors because that's what I decided I was going to be someday. Well, in High School I decided that I should probably made sure that that was really what I wanted to be so I went to get my Certified Nurse Assistant License. After I had my go at that for a year and a half I decided that that was exactly what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

On Tuesday I was checking my gmail account and saw an e-mail named "January Nursing program 2011". My heart started beating like a million miles an hour! We weren't supposed to find out if we were accepted until at earliest the first week of November. I slowly clicked on the file to download the attached letter. I read Dear Sadey Chadwick, Congratulations ... I stopped reading from there and dialed Nick's number. I was so so so ecstatic that I actually made it into the nursing program! After talking to him I then proceeded to call just about everyone in my phone contacts list.

I worked till 5 that day and I could not wait to get home and give Nick a hug. This was so huge for not just me but for us. We dont' want to have kids until at least all of my schooling is done and this is a huge step in the right direction. This is what I came home to:

A dozen pink roses!

Isn't he the greatest?! After the surprise of flowers he took me to Texas Roadhouse for a yummy steak dinner. I am SO happy and feel SO lucky to be able to go to school in this age as a woman and be able to really do what I want to do. I'm truly blessed and I can't wait for January 10th to roll around :)

Wonderful Weekend

This weekend was great! A friend of ours got married on firday and we drove up to Draper for the reception. Afterwards we went on a date to Cheesecake Factory. Nick and I do alot of things together but it was alot of fun to be able to go dressed up and enjoy a yummy meal together. I love that we can talk and laugh forever and never get bored with eachother.

On Saturday night Nick and I went up to Heber City right after I got off work. We went up there for a few reasons. One was his little sister, Maddy, asked if she could borrow our car for preference. She had a fun night and the car even came back in one piece! :)
Here's the Chadwick girls just before Maddy left
The second reason we went up yesterday was because we missed seeing this little guy!
Baby Ayden
Jerry and Erin moved to Roosevelt because Erin was able to find a nursing job at the hospital which is great for them. Not great for us. We miss having them around so much and expecially miss hanging out with this littly guy every time we go up to Heber. It was fun to be able to hang out with them though and spend some time talking with them.

The third reason was to eat some of Debbies yummy food. We had hot dogs, hamburgers (I had one of each of course!), potato salad, pasta salad, pickles, and peach cobbler with ice cream. Delish. Here's a few more pictures from the night:
Here's me and Haley bird. What do you think of my new specs?
I look like a dang midget. At least the high difference gives me rockin' calves because of all the high heels I wear!
Haley Bird captured this lovely shot
Don't worry, it's just a red eye. Not drugs :)
A few of my favorite past times. Bloggind and I-tunes.
Another hilight of the night was when Debbie's bishop came over with his wife and brought some cookies. Debbie had called him over to give him a blessing earlier and when he got there he asked Nick if he would rather give the blessing. The bishop anointed and Nick gave the blessing. It was such a neat blessing for her and for her brother, who suffered a stroke.

It means so much to me to see Nick doing what is right and being an amazing leader and priesthood holder. The words he said were so touching and I know meant the world to Momma Chadwick. Nick and I also spoke in church today and it was so amazing to hear his testimony and his power to teach like that. I love him so much and the spirit he brings to our home. I'm so so blessed to call him mine.

After the talks mom brought over some soup and rolls and we ate at our apartment. I was glad both our families were able to come and watch us talk because I was so stinkin nervous. I think we both did a good job though! After the fam left Nick and I snuck a nap in before we both had to run off to work for the afternoon.

Hope you all had as good of a weekend as we did!

Oh I almost forgot ... I am now officially going to be called Sister Chadwick because (drumroll please) I am the new team teacher of our wards sunbeams! :)

30 Day Challenge

I'm jumping on the band wagon :) It feels like everyone is ranting and raving about this little challenge so I thought I'd do it too! :) Every day you answer one of these questions.

Day 1: Something you hate about yourself.
Day 2: Something you love about yourself
Day 3: Something you have to forgive yourself for.
Day 4: Something you have to forgive someone for.
Day 5: Something you hope to do in your life.
Day 6: Something you hope you never have to do.
Day 7: Someone who has made your life worth living for.
Day 8: Someone who made your life hell, or treated you like shit.
Day 9: Someone you didn’t want to let go, but just drifted.
Day 10: Someone you need to let go, or wish you didn’t know.
Day 11: Something people seem to compliment you the most on.
Day 12: Something you never get compliments on.
Day 13: A band or artist that has gotten you through some tough ass days. (write a letter.)
Day 14: A hero that has let you down. (letter)
Day 15: Something or someone you couldn’t live without, because you’ve tried living without it.
Day 16: Someone or something you definitely could live without.
Day 17: A book you’ve read that changed your views on something.
Day 18: Your views on gay marriage.
Day 19: What do you think of religion? Or what do you think of politics?
Day 20: Your views on drugs and alcohol.
Day 21: (scenario) Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got into a fight an hour before. What do you do?
Day 22: Something you wish you hadn’t done in your life.
Day 23: Something you wish you had done in your life.
Day 24: Make a playlist to someone, and explain why you chose all the songs. (Just post the titles and artists and letter)
Day 25: The reason you believe you’re still alive today.
Day 26: Have you ever thought about giving up on life? If so, when and why?
Day 27: What’s the best thing going for you right now?
Day 28: What if you were pregnant or got someone pregnant, what would you do?
Day 29: Something you hope to change about yourself. And why.
Day 30: A letter to yourself: tell yourself EVERYTHING you love about yourself.

Look at me go, being a band-wagoner.

Bad News Got Worse

Okay here is the lowdown. A week ago Nick and I played in that championship softball game I talked about in my last post. I played the entire game, Nick stopped playing about 15 minutes before the game ended. Why you ask? Ugh, there was this dumb guy who decided to be brave and slide into second which Nick was covering.I don't mind people getting into the game because duh, that's totally why we all play, but this guy didn't know how to control a slide.

It looked alot like this!

He slid right into Nick and landed on his foot while pushing on his leg. Nick heard a pop and I (playing second base) saw his face and knew something was wrong. It was all he could do to hobble off the field. He was in some serious pain.
After the game ended, which our team lost by the way, we headed straight to the InstaCare. The Dr told Nick he had a torn maniscus and that we would have to wait 2 and a half weeks before it would be good to go see a specialist. Well, Nick and I being the patient peeps that we are waied until Wednesday morning :) We drove over to the AF clinic in hopes of good news. We went to an orthopedic specialist named Dr. Weenig and after touching and moving around Nick's leg for about 60 seconds he told us it wasn't the meniscus. My first though was "How lucky are you Nick?!" By about the time it took my brain to think that thought Dr. Weenig said "Not the meniscus, but an ACL tear." Gosh dangit. Nick, you're not lucky at all.
The Dr. gave Nick a brace with all sorts of hardware along with an MRI order. We're going at 4:30 this afternoon to get that done. After that we'll know if this ACL is worthy of surgery or is going to be able to heal on it's own. I'm praying that it won't be anything too serious but it's looking like it knda is.

I'll be staring at this in about an hour
On a lighter note:
  • I got an A on my math midterm and an A- for my anatomy midterm
  • I find out if I got into the nursing program in 2 more weeks
  • I got my scrubs in the mail that I ordered, and I love them.
  • I got new glasses (picture coming soon)
  • Nick and I have been married for 2 months and 9 days
  • We went on a movie date and saw Jackass 3D. Holy funny.

What's Happenin'

So I have been slacking big time on my blog I know I know. It's just because we have been busy but not with things that I have been taking pictures of and I don't want to just post words, but I think I'm going to have to settle for exactly that. I might throw a picture in here just because I can. We'll see :)

The What We've Been Up to List:
  • We've been playing on a Orem co-ed sofball team which has been fun to do together on Friday nights. The season is coming to an end and we are now in tournament play. Last Friday our team won which means we will be playing in the championship game this upcoming Friday. We play just for fun but it'd sure be nice to win!
  • I handed my Nursing Application in on September 30th and I find out if I got accepted in 3 more weeks! I couldn't be more nervous about it. I feel good about it and I hope and pray I get in a start the program in January. It's only 18 months from there!
  • Nick is doing well in his classes and has been working so hard to get good grades by study groups, extra credit, taking time with tests, and even asking his wife for help. I love that it's something I can help him with.
  • I've been trying to expand my culinary skills and eating healthier while I'm at it. We've both gained a little weight and are trying to get re-motivated to hit the gym hard. We'll get there :)
  • Nick is still umpiring for Rocky Mountain School of Baseball every Saturday to earn a few extra $$'S
  • We are both super happy and super busy but wouldn't have it any other way :)
Since today is our 2 month anniversary how about a wedding picture? Okay fine :)

What are the Chances

So today Nick had to work the morning shift at work so he wasn't able to come to church with me. I really miss him not there with me and I hate sitting alone with a whole row to myself, but I survived. I actually more that survived.

We had a lesson in Relief society that really jumped out at me and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. We were talking about Joseph Smith and how amazing it is that he was exactly where he was at exactly the right time to be able to restore the gospel that we are so grateful to be able to be a part of today. There was a lady who raised her hand to comment and said something along the lines of this:
"Alot of time we think about how amazing it is that this one singular thing lined up to happen just how it needed to, like Joseph Smith. We often forget to think about all of the other things that happened before that so that the stars could align for that event. His ancestors had the inspiration and desire to come to America and start a new life. His grandparents had visions and believed in personal revelation and guidance. His parents supported religion and let each of their children choose for themselves. How many sailors eyes did Heavenly Father have to keep covered until Christopher Columbus finally saw the Americas? How many people had to be in the right place to help this country have religious freedom? When you look at it from a larger perspective it isn't just amazing, it's completely miraculous."

That conversation got me thinking. How many domino's has Heavenly Father set up for me to be where i am right now? How many of my non-member ancestors has he put a little thought or idea in to help me to get here? How hard did he work for my strong Catholic mom and inactive dad to be sealed in the temple? It really helped me realize to a higher degree how much my I am loved on a personal level by my Father in Heaven. When I look around me I can see that I really am truly blessed.

Attitude of Grattitude

I love this man. His talk during today's morning session of General Conference was wonderful. It is something that I try to work on and feel like it has relaly changed my attitude and outloook on a lot of things. Here are a few hilights from his talk:

  • Give thanks for the blessings we recieve. Walk with grattitude. We will feel closer to Christ when we do.
  • Remember, the Lord has a hand in all things.
  • A prayerful life is the key to happiness and grattitude.
  • Don't wait until it is too late to express the grattitude you have.
  • Focus on your blessings. Dig deep during hard times and you will recognize how much you have been given.
  • President Joseph F. Smith said: “The grateful man sees so much in the world to be thankful for, and with him the good outweighs the evil. Love overpowers jealousy, and light drives darkness out of his life. Pride destroys our gratitude and sets up selfishness in its place. How much happier we are in the presence of a grateful and loving soul, and how careful we should be to cultivate, through the medium of a prayerful life, a thankful attitude toward God and man!”
  • There is a lot wrong in the world today, but there is much that is good.
What am I grateful for?
  • My eternal compainon who is truly is my better half. I'm grateful for the marriage we have together and the love and respect that he shows me.
  • My Parents, Siblings, and my new in-law family.
  • The gospel and the opportunities that it provides for me to be happy and to grow.
  • School and the blessing that my degree will be for my future family.
  • A prophet that gives us modern revelation from our Father in Heaven.
  • My job and the people I care for. They have such strong testimonies and I have the opportunity to learn from them. I am so blessed to be able to work full time and take classes as well.
  • My health
  • The apartment that Nick and I were able to find.
  • Two cars that run well .
  • Where I live
  • The frieds that I have and the people who care about me.
  • Prayer and the feelings and blessings that come with it
  • An extended family who loves me and have been examples to me
  • So So much more ...
I have so much to be grateful and so much to look forward to in life. I am so grateful that I get to hear from our Prophet, his apostles, and other leaders twice a year in General Conference.

What are you grateful for?
